SG, I-TRACK Foundation to develop renewable energy framework

It aims to standardise approaches for the tracking of cross-border renewable energy certificates.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Energy Market Authority, and the International Tracking Standard Foundation (I-TRACK Foundation) will develop a framework for Cross-Border Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for Southeast Asia.

It aims to help countries standardise approaches for the tracking and accounting of cross-border RECs.

The framework will also give companies the confidence to purchase cross-border RECs to make exclusive claims for their sustainability reporting.

This framework, once complete, will serve as a template and standard for countries to properly account for and align cross-border RECs with internationally accepted best practices.
