First Solar to supply modules to 25MW Indian solar power project

First Solar will supply thin-film solar modules for a 25MW power project developed by Green Infra in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

The project is part of India's Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which aims to install 20,000MW of solar generating capacity in the country by 2022.

"Our latest project with Green Infra is a significant project under the National Solar Mission that will help India meet its energy security needs," said Sujoy Ghosh, First Solar India country head.

The project is expected to produce 46 million kW/h of clean electricity per year, equivalent to the annual electricity needs of more than 19,000 average Indian households, and to displace more than 44,000 metric tons of CO² per year based on national averages.
