India's Vedanta group to sell 1,000 MW surplus power

Sterlite Energy Limited (SEL) and Bharat Aluminium Co. Ltd (BALCO), are hunting for buyers of their combined power surplus of 1,000 MW.

The two Vedanta companies said in a brief disclosure for soliciting power purchase offers that they are 'having upto 1000 MW surplus power to sell under short/medium term open access.'

It has asked prospective buyers to contact SEL for follow-up.

Both SEL and BALCO are two independent operating companies and leading producers of power generation that belongtothe Vedanta Group.
