Newfound gas supply to power Bangladesh grid

Experimental gas supply has been provided to Bangladesh's national grid.

This camefrom the newfound gas layer at the fourth well of the Kailastila gas field at Golapganj upazila in Sylhet.

Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (BAPEX) accidentally struck the new gas layer.

Officials speculate that this layer of gas may produce 20 to 25 million cubic feet gas per day daily.

The current daily average gas production from Kailastila gas field is approximately 90 million cubic feet.
