Tohoku Electric receives initial power supply from TEPCO

Tohoku Electric Power has received an additional 300MW out of the expected 1,100 from Tokyo Electric Power  to avoid rolling blackouts and meet the increasing demands.

Tohoku is struggling to gain power supplies because heavy rains have halted the production of 1,000MW of power from its hydroelectric plants.

For now, the company will also be unable to restart its closed nuclear plants, over public concerns for safety following the quake in March.
