CV Bottom Head of Haiyang now in place

The containment vessel bottom head of NI, Unit 2 of Shandong Haiyang NPP was successfully put in place. It paves the way for the NI construction peak of Haiyang Unit 2.

Being one of the most important equipment in NI, the cylindrical CV is special nuclear safety related equipment for 3rd generation AP1000 technology, weighing about 3400 tons. It is the 3rd safety barrier aimed to prevent release of radioactive substances to the outside, forming a pressure boundary in the reactor building.

The CV bottom head is comprised of 64 steel plates welded together, weighing nearly 700 tons in total.
