China will soon begin building its largest offshore wind farm in Leting County, Hebei province.

The massive wind farm will have an installed capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) and is to be connected to the national grid by 2015. It will consist of 100 wind turbines located near Puti Island in the Bohai Sea.

When operational, the wind farm will generate 752 million Kilowatt hours (Kwh) of electric power annually, and will earn 730 million yuan in annual sales revenues.

Leting has 125 kilometers of coastline or a quarter of Hebei's total coastline. The county boasts rich exploitable wind power resources totaling 3.7 gigawatts.
