India’s largest solar plant completed by Feb 2012

Lanco Infratech and juwi Holding have won a contract to build India’s largest solar system in the city of Dhule.

The 75MW solar plant will cost INR8.84 billion or US$195 million and is expected to be completed by February 2012. Equipment suppliers for the record-breaking project are still to be confirmed.

The juwi group established its Indian subsidiary in October 2010, with the aim of installing over 100MW of solar power projects over the coming years.

"India currently provides excellent conditions for the solar industry and the country has the most attractive market in all of Asia. As one of the leading developers, juwi's opportunities there are outstanding. 100% renewable energies are possible - now and not in the far future," said Rajesh Bhat, president of the juwi subsidiary in India.
