India's first green building uses SunPower solar panels
Rooftop solar system provides 930 kW.
The Indira Paryavaran Bhavan building in New Delhi, is India's first net zero energy building, has been equipped with a solar panel system from SunPower Corporation.
The SunPower E-Series solar panels were installed on the building with a five-degree tilt to fully optimize its expected energy output of 1.5 million kWh annually.
It will help the Indira Paryavaran Bhavan building generate enough electricity from its rooftop solar system to cover 100% of its energy demand. Swadeshi Civil Infrastructure installed the 930 kilowatt kW SunPower solar system on the rooftop of LEED rated building.
The building intends to achieve a Platinum rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building rating system or LEED, a leading worldwide green rating system.
It also is expected to receive a five star Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment from the rating system developed by the Energy and Resource Institute and supported by India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
