Another Renova biomass plant faces delay

Commencement of operations was moved to March 2025.

Renova Inc. has moved the start of operations for its 49.9-MW Karatsu Biomass Power Plant from December 2024 to March 2025 due to additional time required for adjustments to the boiler and turbine facilities to ensure long-term stable operation at the facility.

In a statement, Renova said its equity method affiliate Karatsu Biomass Energy G.K., which owns the plant, is expected to receive Liquidated Damages from the EPC for a certain period of time due to the change in the start of commercial operation based on the EPC contract.

Prior to this, the company also announced the delayed launch of the Omaezakikou Biomass Power Plant to March 2025 from October 2024 due to necessary adjustments needed to the boiler and turbine facilities to ensure stable operation.

Renova said the FIT sales period is expected to be until 30 November 2044.

This latest development is projected to have a minimal impact on the financial results for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2025.
