Avaada Group to develop 6 GW hybrid wind, solar projects in Gujarat
The projects will create 1,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Avaada Group and the Government of Gujarat signed a Memorandum of understanding for the development of 6 gigawatts (GW) of hybrid wind and solar power projects in the state with an investment of around $4.8b (INR40,000 crore).
In a statement, Avaada said the projects will be built in various districts in the state, mostly in the underdeveloped wastelands of Kutch.
The power generated from the project will be supplied to various utilities in the country including the state electricity regulation board Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited and for captive use for the company’s green hydrogen/ammonia projects.

“With its abundant natural resources including 300 sunshine days, availability of vast wasteland and long coastline, Gujarat has the potential to significantly contribute towards meeting the global demand for alternative solutions for fossil fuels,” said Avaada Group Chairperson Vineet Mittal.
The project can generate 17.5 billion units of electricity, supplying power to nearly 12.6 million households, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16.3 million tonnes annually.
It will also create around 1,200 direct and indirect job opportunities.
