India charts path to 500 GW non-fossil power by 2030
A major share is expected from solar and wind energy.
India is targeting 500 gigawatts (GW) of installed electricity generation capacity from non-fossil fuel-based sources by 2030, with a major share expected from solar and wind energy.
To support this, the government has undertaken a series of coordinated measures to promote the development and deployment of energy storage technologies, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
As per the National Electricity Plan, a requirement of 208 gigawatt-hour of BESS has been projected by 2030 to enable seamless integration.
