JSW Energy inks PPA for 1.6 GW thermal plant
The deal will be for 25 years.
JSW Energy Limited has inked a power purchase agreement for its 1,600 megawatt (MW) super/ultra super critical thermal power plant.
In a bourse filing, the company said the 25-year deal for the entire capacity was signed with West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited.
“This is the largest greenfield capacity and the largest PPA signed by JSW Energy. This project is poised to significantly boost local employment opportunities and contribute to the region's economic growth, whilst ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for years to come,” said Sharad Mahendra, joint managing director and CEO of JSW Energy.
The 1,600 MW project, to be constructed in Salboni, West Bengal, is scheduled for commissioning in five years. The plant will utilise domestic linkage coal allocated to West Bengal under the SHAKTI B (iv) policy.
