JSW Energy secures LoI for 3.6 GW KSK Mahanadi thermal plant
This brings the company’s total locked-in thermal generation capacity to 7.5 GW.
JSW Energy Limited has received the letter of intent from the Resolution Professional for its resolution plan submitted for KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited (KMPCL) under the corporate insolvency resolution process of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
In a statement, JSW Energy said KMPCL owns a 3,600 megawatt (MW) thermal power plant that uses domestic coal in Chhattisgarh. It currently operates with a 1,800 MW (600 MW x 3 units) capacity which is mostly under long- and medium-term power purchase agreements.
An additional 1,800 MW (600 MW x 3 units) is under construction, one of which is 40% completed.
Following this, JSW Energy's total locked-in thermal generation capacity reaches 7.5 gigawatts (GW), whilst its total locked-in generation capacity stands at 28.2 GW.
