NHPC aims to deploy floating solar technology in India

This is in partnership with Norwegian firm M/s Ocean Sun.

India’s National Hydropower Electric Corporation (NHPC) entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Norway-based tech provider M/s Ocean Sun for the adoption of floating solar power.

Under the MoU, NHPC and Ocean Sun will study areas of cooperation to demonstrate Ocean Sun’s floating solar technology which will be deployed at sites identified by the Indian firm.

“The agreement is in continuation of efforts towards sustainable development and addition of renewable energy capacity by NHPC, which is engaged not only in hydropower development but also in various renewable energy projects such as solar, wind and green hydrogen projects,” the ministry said in a statement.

The MoU was signed by NHPC Executive Director (Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen) Shri V.R. Shrivastava and Ocean Sun CEO Kristian Tørvold.
