Octopus Australia secures grid connection for Blind Creek solar and battery project

Construction will commence in Q3.

The Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project has received grid connection approval, developer Octopus Australia announced.

In a statement, the company said that the approval, known as Generator Performance Standards (GPS), allows the project to connect to the grid and progress into its final development phase.

The $850-m Blind Creek hybrid project is now the largest of its kind to reach this stage of development within the National Electricity Market (NEM). It is located 32 kilometres north-east of Canberra, with a 300 megawatt (MW) solar farm and 243 MW/486 megawatt-hour of co-located battery storage.

The project can energise up to 120,000 homes and businesses, significantly contributing to Australia’s clean energy future.

Construction will commence in the third quarter.
