POWERGRID acquires three SPVs for renewable energy transmission

These were secured through tariff-based competitive bidding.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has secured three project special purpose vehicles (SPV) for the implementation of various renewable energy (RE) transmission projects worth INR8,769 crore.

One of the SPVs is South Olpad Transmission System which comprises the establishment of new 765/400/220 kV (GIS) sub-station at a location near south of Olpad, and 765kV and 400kV D/C Transmission Lines and associated bays extension works at other existing substation in the state of Gujarat.

This project is part of Khavda Phase - IV transmission scheme planned for evacuation of additional 7 gigawatts (GW) clean energy from Khavda RE park. 

POWERGRID also acquired the Jam Khambhaliya Transmission System  that comprises augmentation of transformation capacity and associated bays extension works. This project shall enable evacuation of power beyond 1.5 GW at Jam Khambhaliya using renewable energy sources. 

The third SPV is Rajasthan IV H1 Power Transmission System that covers the establishment of new 765/400/220 kV sub-station at Kurawar, and 765kV and 400kV D/C Transmission Lines and associated bays extension works at other existing substation in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

This is a part of the comprehensive scheme to evacuate 5.5 GW and 2 GW of RE from Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex and Neemuch/Mandsaur WEZ respectively.
