PT. Geo Dipa Energi and Toshiba team up for Patuha geothermal plant

This will increase generation capacity to 110 MW.

Indonesian state-owned company PT. Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) has tapped Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation for the expansion of the former’s Patuha Geothermal Power Plant Unit 2 in West Java, Indonesia.

Under their partnership, Toshiba will supply the company a steam turbine and a generator from PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik, a subsidiary of Toyo Engineering Corporation, and the EPC contractor for the Patuha Geothermal Power Plant Unit 2.

The plant, which is located in West Java, Indonesia, will have a generating capacity of 60.3 megawatts (MW), and is scheduled to go online in 2027.

Indonesia is the second largest producer of geothermal power globally, with an estimated capacity of approximately 30 gigawatts (GW).

Under its latest "Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL 2021-2030)," Indonesia aims to increase its power generation capacity by 40.6 GW by 2030, with geothermal power contributing 3.35 GW, or around 8% of the total. This includes expansion of the Patuha plant, which will double its power generation capacity to 110 MW.
