Queensland rejects development of 450 MW wind farm

Its capacity would have energised over 260,000 households.

The Queensland government has scrapped the proposal to develop the 450 megawatt Moonlight Range Wind Farm.

In a notice, Queensland Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie refused the application for a development permit.

“The decision comes after a thorough assessment of the project’s potential community impacts, reaffirming the government’s commitment to sustainable development that aligns with the values and interests of Queensland communities,” the government said.

Moonlight Range Wind Farm, located 40 kilometres west of Rockhampton, is supposed to feature 88 wind turbines to power 260,000 homes annually.
