SECI to develop renewables projects with battery storage in Indian archipelago
The projects will be spread across Lakshadweep’s 11 islands.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) plans to develop its own renewable energy projects with battery storage capacity at the Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep.
According to a tender announcement, the projects will be spread across the 11 islands of the UT of Lakshadweep, with emphasis on developing the renewables projects coupled with suitable capacity of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
“The project aims at powering the electricity supply of the inhabited islands in Lakshadweep partly or wholly through RE sources,” SECI said.
Bidding documents for the projects’ design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning, as well as the BESS and a 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M) will be available at SECI’s website on 31 January 2019.
PV Tech adds that India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) came out with new guidelines for distributed grid-connected solar PV projects in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
