South Korea, Indonesia ink deal for nuclear energy cooperation
It was one of the 16 agreements signed by the parties during the ASEAN Summit 2023.
Companies from South Korea and Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate in “nurturing a nuclear energy industrial base,” and in other areas of the energy and mobility sector.
In a statement, South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) said the deal on nuclear cooperation is one of 16 MOUS signed at the Business Roundtable during Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s attendance at the ASEAN Summit 2023 in Jakarta.
Of the 16 MOUs, five were agreements in electric power and clean energy for eco-friendly equipment, green ammonia, carbon capture and storage, and electric power devices. They also signed two agreements for electric and integrated parking solutions in the mobility sector.

Two deals were inked for establishing research and development centres in critical minerals and supply chain, one on biodegradable “white bio” in resources recycling, and three regarding root industries, construction equipment and fashion retailing.
The parties also signed two agreements in healthcare policies for health facilities consignment and ASEAN policy research.
MOTIE said the Korean and Indonesian governments will closely collaborate for the seamless implementation of follow-up measures of the agreements through the rolling out of incentives and official development assistance support.
