SRE submits administrative contract for Formosa 6 offshore wind

Nearly 900,000 homes will benefit from this.

Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE Group) has announced the submission of the administrative contract for Formosa 6 Offshore Wind Project, its first venture into central Taiwan.

“As a leading offshore wind developer in Taiwan, SRE understands the pressing demands for green power among semiconductor and other export-oriented industries and fully supports Taiwan’s renewable energy targets for 2030,” said Lucas Lin, chairperson of SRE.

Formosa 6, which will be located off the coast of Xianxi Township, Changhua County, spans approximately 84 square kilometres. The project secured 800 megawatts development capacity in the second auction of Phase 3 Zonal Development of Offshore Wind.

Once operational and connected to the grid, the wind farm is expected to power about 860,000 households.

“Moving forward, our team will adhere to regulatory requirements and work collaboratively with all partners to overcome challenges in our journey toward a sustainable future,” Lin said.
