Tata Power commissions 431 MW solar project in Madhya Pradesh

The project leverages single-axis trackers and bi-facial modules.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a unit of Tata Power, has commissioned its 431 megawatt solar project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh.

In a statement, the company said the project spans 1,635.63 acres, and is India’s first solar project site to feature a combination of single-axis trackers and bi-facial modules. This has boosted the efficiency of the entire system by over 15%, enabling peak power supply for extended hours.

“We are confident that this project will not only reduce our carbon footprint but also strengthen our role in powering key infrastructure,” said CEO and TPREL Managing Director Deepesh Nanda.

The facility is expected to offset 780,300 tonnes of carbon emissions and ensure reliable power supply to Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Co. Ltd..

The project brings TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity to 10.9 gigawatts (GW). Its operational capacity has reached 5.4 GW, comprising 4.4 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind energy projects.
