Tata Power unit and SJVN ink PPA for 460 MW renewable project

The agreement involves a firm and dispatchable renewable energy project.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) signed a power purchase agreement with SJVN Limited for a 460-megawatt firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project.

In a statement, TPREL said the project could generate around 3,000 million units of power whilst avoiding around 2,200 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

FDRE projects combine solar, wind and battery storage technologies. Such projects also allow round-the-clock power supply and assist distribution firms in fulfilling their renewable purchase and energy storage obligations.

“By integrating diverse renewable energy sources and leveraging the importance of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), the collaboration will ensure a dependable power supply and also actively contribute to India's ambitious renewable energy targets,” said TPREL CEO and Managing Director Deepesh Nanda.

This project brings the company’s total renewables capacity to 9,421 MW which includes 4,906 MW of projects that are in different stages of implementation.
