Korea-Philippines cooperation includes power plant, dam projects

A dam and a coal-fired power plant will be built in the Philippines with the assistance of South Korea.

This is part of the series of economic cooperation agreements signed between the two countries that include South Korea providing aid, low-interest loans and assistance in building an agricultural complex in the Philippines.

The agreements were sealed on the sidelines of a summit between South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Philippine President Benigno Aquino III, reports Yonhap News.

The coal-fueled power plant will be built in the city of Subic while the multi-purpose dam worth $300 million will be built on a river in the southern province of Iloilo.
