India's Ministry of Power releases projections on capacity addition

The 17th Electrical Power Survey Reports determined that with a peak load of 152746 MW, the energy requirement stands at 968659 MU.

 

Importantly, energy requirement for the year 2016-17, based on the past years energy data, has been projected to be 1392066 MU, with a peak load of 218209 MW.

Lastly, the energy requirement has been pegged at 1914508 MU for the year 2021-22, while peak load has been estimated at 298253 MW.

This data, with suitable adjustments, is used by the Ministry of Power as a background to estimating projections for capacity addition.
