Hong Kong eyes funding approval for I·PARK2’s construction next year

Meanwhile, the operation of I·PARK1 is still set to begin this year.

Hong Kong is hoping to approve the budget for the construction of its second integrated waste management facility by next year.

This was announced by Chief Executive John Lee during his 2025 Policy Address.“To expand our waste-to-energy capacity, the Government will seek funding approval from the LegCo next year for the construction of I·PARK2,” the official said.

Meanwhile, I·PARK1 will progressively begin operation by the end of this year, he said.

These facilities are also part of Hong Kong’s efforts to reduce and recycle waste to achieve its “zero landfill” goal.
