India’s MNRE clarifies coverage of ALMM order

Projects with prior approval are not affected.

To set the record straight, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued an office memorandum saying that the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) order does not cover open access and net-metering solar projects that secured their approvals before 1 October 2022.

According to the document, the exemption applies to projects where the first application for grant of in-principle approval, no objection certificate, government order, or any other such approvals was made before the said date.

The application should have been submitted to distribution licensees, state transmission utility, state load despatch centre, state nodal agency for renewable energy, or other relevant authority.
