South Korea and Vietnam to resume nuclear energy cooperation

Previous talks were paused.

Energy officials from South Korea and Vietnam have agreed to look into resuming the two countries’ nuclear energy ties.

In a statement, Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy said this was discussed during a meeting between its chief Dukgeun Ahn and Vietnam’s Trade and Industry Minister Nguyen Hong Dien.

The Vietnamese delegation introduced its nuclear policy trends and proposed that the two countries expand their bilateral nuclear energy cooperation. Korean officials then suggested that the two countries resume the bilateral director general-level nuclear industry dialogue channel for consultations on more concrete collaboration measures.

This said channel has been on hiatus since 2017.
