TNB awards hydroelectric contracts worth $353M

 

TNB has awarded three contracts worth US$ 353 million for the construction of dams, hydro turbines and generators at the Hulu Terengganu Hydroelectric Project.



The renewable energy project is situated in the north-eastern peninsular of Malaysia in the Terengganu region, upstream of Kenyir Lake.

It involves the construction of two dams and the installation of two hydro turbines and generators in an underground power station with a total installed capacity of 250 mW, according to khl.com.

Local civil and structural engineering company Loh & Loh Construction won a US$ 263.3 million contract in a joint venture agreement with Sinohydro Corporation to carry out the main civil works.

This includes the construction of two dams, a water transfer tunnel and an underground power house.
