Whilst European FIs are leading coal divestments, FIs from Asia are also rapidly increasing. 

This comes amidst peak energy demand during the summer. 

It would be completed by December 2029 at the latest.

The region’s capacity growth will be largely driven by China.

The partnership will focus on floating solar and other green facility development.

This is up by 5 times compared to the previous year. 

It will bring together leaders, policymakers, and experts in Asia’s power and energy sector.

The coal plant will be converted into a renewable energy hub.

These include Total Eren, Adaro Power, and PJBI.

The companies will also promote the adoption of green hydrogen.

GEM estimated coal retirement globally needs to be almost five times faster.  

It developed Unit 1 of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant.

The awards programmes recognise companies that have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and sustainability in addressing the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.

The investment came from Brookfield Renewable.

The project is targeted to commence commercial operations in January 2024.

The country wants to increase its renewable energy capacity to 40%, IEEFA said.
