MNRE extends financial support for demonstration Biogas Fertilizer Plants

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has decided to extend financial support for the demonstration Biogas Fertilizer Plants (BGFPs) initiated by the ministry. The demonstration projects will involve biogas generation, purification and bottling besides production of bio-fertiliser. 8The ministry has sanctioned central financial assistance (CFA) of 50% of project cost, excluding the cost of land, for demonstration projects being set up by private developers. 8The assistance will be provided only when the project is successfully commissioned and all the terms and conditions are fulfilled. 8Pertinently, the demonstration projects have been sanctioned on the basis of technical and financial scrutiny of the proposals received in response to an invitation for ‘expression of interest’ issued by the ministry. 8The ministry maintains state-wise and year-wise details of all the BGFPs sanctioned by the ministry. The financial support for 15 demonstration projects has been pegged at Rs 18.29 crore. 8Of the 15 projects having a capacity of 31,116 m3/day day, seven have been commissioned till date.
