Doosan Enerbility and KOWEPO to develop 90 MW hydrogen-fueled turbines

This is in line with Korea’s goal to increase the share of clean hydrogen in its energy mix.

Doosan Enerbility and Korea Western Power (KOWEPO) have signed an agreement for the development and demonstration of 90 megawatt hydrogen-fuelled turbines.

Under the memorandum of understanding, Doosan Enerbility said it will develop the mid-sized 100% hydrogen-fueled turbine technology, whilst KOWEPO will be taking on the application and demonstration of the turbines at a new build power plant.

This complies with the Korean government’s policy aimed at increasing the share of clean hydrogen in the energy mix and establishing a solid foundation for hydrogen development.

Small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized businesses will also be tapped for efforts such as penetrating the global market.
