Aviation lifts Taiwan's offshore energy operations
Helicopter transport emerges as a niche solution in a maritime-dominated offshore energy market.
With Taiwan’s offshore energy sector largely dominated by maritime operators, HeliService Taiwan is carving a unique path through the skies.
“Our opportunity is that we are single source at this moment. We are flying helicopters with our customers to the wind parks,” said Markus Timar, General Manager of HeliService Taiwan. “If you look around, 98% of business here is maritime-oriented. We are aviation, so we are a niche product, and we will have good success here in Asia.”
Timar emphasised that the company’s helicopter-based services offer a distinct alternative to traditional offshore logistics. He added that HeliService is also aligning its operations with global renewable energy initiatives. “We are seeing a big opportunity, especially in green energy… and we are supporting green energy worldwide.”
Organised by TAITRA and the Green Energy and Sustainability Alliance (GESA) under SEMI, Energy Taiwan & Net-Zero Taiwan 2025 was held from 29 to 31 October 2025 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
