Ansaldo Energia awarded a EUR25m contract for a AE94.2K Gas Turbine for syngas application in China

The AE94.2K Gas Turbine is specifically designed to burn low calorific value fuel.

In the presence of President of PRC Mr Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Mr Giuseppe Conte, Ansaldo Energia has been awarded by Chinese customer a contract worth approximately 25 million euro to supply a AE94.2K Gas Turbine and Syngas Compressor Train for Bengang combined cycle power plant, located in Benxi in the north-east of China.

The 180 MW Bengang combined cycle power plant relies on AE94.2K Gas Turbine specifically designed to burn low calorific value fuel. The plant is owned by Benxi Steel Group Co., Ltd, a large state-owned Chinese company based in Benxi, leader in the steel production.

This new order strengthens the presence of Ansaldo Energia in the market of low caloric value gas for heavy duty gas turbines, where Ansaldo Energia has accrued a remarkable experience lasting more than 20 years with the AE94.2K Gas Turbine, tailored to burn low BTU fuels, such as syngas, steel mill, blast furnace gases, and biomass.

This contract further consolidates the long-term strategic partnership between Shanghai Electric and Ansaldo Energia.
