Gas-coal power plant in Timika to be realized soon

The gas and coal power plant project in Timika will commence this year.

It has so far been delayed for five years.

Manager of state power firm said that PLN was already allowed to  move the machinery of PLTGB from Labuan Bajo to Timika.

The 2x3 megawatts PLTGB machinery which had been imported from Germany was originally meant to increase the power capacity in Manggarai Barat regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Farwas said PLN has received a Decision of Mimika Regent on the granting of land as a location for building the PLTGB in Ayuka hamlet, which was a port for explosives of PT Freeport Indonesia which had been granted to the Mimika regency administration.

State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan when he was President Director of state oil company PT Pertamina had made an inspection of the location of the future Timika PLTGB in Ayuka hamlet in mid-2011.

Farwas said that if the project could be realized in a not too distant future, in the next three to five years, the people of Timika would always have electricity.
