Welspun Energy funds 20 MW solar project

Banking consortium provides US$28 million funding.

Indian renewable energy firm Welspun Energy has received financing for its 20 MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra. The project will be implemented by Welspun subsidiary, Welspun Energy Maharashtra.

Electricity from the project will be sold to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking, Mumbai’s transport and electricity agency. The project will aid in addressing Maharashtra’s annual peak energy deficit, which runs at some 15%.
