China launches 12 measures to attain green targets

Already behind schedule set by 12th Five-year Plan.

China has launched 12 new measures to accelerate energy saving and emission reduction. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, published 12 measures to ensure the achievement of green targets for the year.

China plans to cut energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product by over 3.7% by the end of 2013. It has to reduce energy consumption per unit of GDP by 3.84 % from 2013-2015 period so to accomplish established green planning, said NDRC.

China will strictly control the fast expansion of industries with high energy consumption and pollution emissions and excessive production capacity.
