Tata Power unit switches on India’s largest solar-BESS project

The project is worth around $114m.

Tata Power Solar Systems started the operations of a 100-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic project coupled with a 120 MW-hour utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS), the largest of its kind in India.

In a statement, Tata Power said the project is expected to generate around 243.53 million units of energy annually and cut a carbon footprint of 4.87 million tonnes in 25 years.

The company secured the $114m (INR945 crore) project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in December 2021 on an engineering, procurement and construction basis.

The project has been delivered on time by Tata Power Solar that will help in providing 24x7 renewable power,” said Shri R. P. Gupta, IAS, Chairman & MD, SECI.
