ENEOS inks PPA to supply renewable energy to Amazon

Around 20,000 megawatt-hours will be supplied annually.

ENEOS Renewable Energy Corporation (ERE) has signed a corporate power purchase agreement with Amazon to provide clean energy from a 9.5 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Japan.

In a statement, ERE said the energy will be sourced from the Kudamatsu Fourth Mega Solar Power Plant in Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi. This is still under construction, with operations seen to commence by November 2025.

This power plant will supply an estimated 20,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy per year to Amazon, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by 4,800 households per year, ERE said.

In May, ERE also signed an agreement with West Japan Railway Company and the Kansai Electric Power Company to provide electricity generated from solar power.
