Middle East conflict revives push for wind energy security

The plan calls on countries to immediately review their exposure to future fossil fuel prices.

The Global Wind Energy Council has launched a Wind Action Plan for governments to accelerate their wind energy deployment amidst the conflict in the Middle East.

The plan calls on countries to immediately review their exposure to future fossil fuel price shocks and strengthen their energy resilience.

GWEC is also urging governments to fast-track ‘shovel-ready’ wind projects for construction to diversify power sources.

Moreover, GWEC is encouraging governments to remove grid and storage bottlenecks, mobilise financing, promote greater electrification, and scale supply chains.
