Bangladesh facilitates logistics to Indian Power Plant

Bangladesh will allow transport of equipment in its territory for a power plant in India's north eastern state of Tripura.

According to the Daily Star,  a total of 96 Over-Dimensional Cargoes will be carried through Bangladesh for the 726MW Palatana power project.

Under the MOA signed between Bangladesh and India, cargo will start from West Bengal's Raimongal and enter Bangladesh at Angtihara and go up to Ashuganj river port by inland waterways.

India will not pay any fees or service charges for this transit; however, it will provide Bangladesh $3.6 million for the development of Ashuganj river port terminal and 49 kilometr of roads.

The MOU is the first such multi-modal transit accord signed by Bangladesh allowing access by land since 1965.
