Thailand's tender process for wind, solar plants likely to be delayed

National Economic and Social Development Board must check projects first.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand is mulling over postponing tender process for wind and solar plantas to mid-2018. It eyes selling price-bid documents for contractors to develop and install energy storage systems in Chaiyaphum and Lop Buri. Additionally the pojrects will have to be sent to the National Economic and Social Development Board's checking first.

The Chaiyaphum project is a wind plant with 16MW capacity whilst that in Lop Buri is a 21MW solar power plant.

The projects are expected to attract bidders from South Korea, Japan, and Europe. Once the agency sells the price-bid documents next year, the winners' names will be announced within another year. Construction will likely finish by 2019 or 2020.
