Bangladesh to Generate 7,000MW of Power by 2013

Bangladesh aims to generate an additional 7,000MW of electricity by 2013 by setting up new power plants in the country, the country's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said.

PFC to finance Indian nuclear power projects

Power Finance Corporation Ltd and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd signed an MoU to set up nuclear power projects in India. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Satnam Singh, Chairman and Mnaging Director, PFC and Dr. S.K. Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, NPCIL. 

Bangladesh solar street lights get ADB support

The ADB Board of Directors approved a US$120 million loan for the Bangladesh City Region Development Project. It will target energy-efficient, environmentally friendly urban services, more coordinated regional development planning, and stronger management capacity for municipalities in the sprawling city regions of Dhaka and Khulna, which include surrounding secondary towns.

Azure to invest $40M In Gujarat Solar Plant

Azure Power will develop a 15 MW solar PV power plan with an investment of $40 million in Gujarat. The investment is led by Overseas Private Investment Corporation, an agency of the United States Government. Other investors in the project include World Bank arm IFC, and venture capital firms Helion Advisors and Foundation Capital.

Reliance Power to utilize Shanghai Electric products

Reliance Power Limited has placed an order for 30,000 megawatt capacity of boiler, turbine, generator packages with theShanghai Electric Group Company. It will be used for its coal based power plants. Reliance Power and SEC have signed memorandum of understanding to cover the financing with leading Chinese Banks such as Bank of China, China Development Bank, the Export-Import Bank of China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. The agreement with the Chinese banks allows Reliance Power to get financing for importing Chinese equipment for up to $12 billion.

Reliance Power to get $5B renewable energy funding

Reliance Power will borrow US$5 billion with the Export-Import Bank to  finance its 900-MW of renewable technologies. These include solar and wind energies as well as up to 8,000 MW of gas-based power-generation technology.

Acciona Energy has started constricting the 56 MW Tuppadahalli facility, its third wind park in India. It will come on stream in 2011. According to the Construction and maintenance News, the wind park represents an investment of US$81.3 million. The wind park will increase the company's wind power capacity in the country to 85.8 MW.
