Power use by China’s primary sector falls
Drops 0.3% year-on-year to 18.9 billion kWh from January to March.
China’s secondary sector, however, used up 868.8 billion kWh of power, up 3.8% year-on-year, said the National Energy Administration.
The primary sector is the sector of an economy making direct use of natural resources. This includes agriculture, forestry and fishing, mining, and extraction of oil and gas.
China's electricity consumption from January to March rose 4.3% year-on-year to 1.21 trillion kWh.
In March alone, China consumed a total of 424.1 billion kWh, up 2% year-on-year.
From January to March, the service industry used 152.7 billion kWh, up 9.2% while residential use hit 173.5 billion kWh of power an increase of 3.1%.
China added another 14.48 million kW of power production capacity in the first three months, including 2.92 million kW of hydropower and 9.26 million kW of thermal power, NEA said.
