Over 200 key industry figures flocked to Malaysia for the event.

More than 200 experts, leaders and futurists of the power industry from East Asia and Western Pacific are in Penang to deliberate on megatrends (big shifts), affecting the electricity supply industry.

They gathered here since Sunday for the three-day AESIEAP CEO Conference, held biannually for member utilities to leverage as a platform to forge stronger ties and discuss substantial issues and challenges.

AESIEAP or Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and Western Pacific was founded in 1975 to allow members to foster cooperation and exchange expertise and technology.

Utilities, he said are shifting towards a sustainable, innovative and smarter future to take advantage of the growth in this region and to face the challenges from higher stakeholder expectations, disruptive technology and changing customers’ needs.
