Fujian Datang to build offshore wind farm
To cost US$952 million, the wind farm will be the first off China’s southeastern coast.
Fujian Datang International Wind Power Development said the Liu’ao Hai Wind Farm will be located off the coast of Fujian province in southern China. The proposed wind farm will have at least five wind turbines generating a total of 300 megawatts. It is expected to generate between 0.6 and 0.73 terawatt hours of electricity annually.
Its location near the Taiwan Strait will feed strong winds into the plant making coastal Fujian an ideal location for the development of offshore wind power sites.
Fujian Datang is a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation, a wholly state-owned enterprise that is one of the five key players in China’s energy sector. Fujian Datang was established to develop wind power resources in Fujian. China first began to develop offshore wind power in earnest in 2010.
