Brighton Energy to open Indian nuclear equipment unit

Brighton Energy will set up a nuclear power plant component facility near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India.

The US-based firm will enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, according to business.standard.com.

The facility will produce forged-steel components, fabricated by General Electric for third-generation nuclear power plants.

The heavy equipment and forged-steel manufacturing firm will invest US$589 million in the manufacturing facility.

Brighton plans to set up the facility within two and half years.

The firm has asked for 3.2km² of land and other support including a captive power plant for its energy needs and the allocation of natural gas for the project, according to the government.
