Dadri CCPP commissioning may be delayed

The CEA sent a team to review the progress at the 110 MW Guruji combined cycle power project at Dadri in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The Guruji Power Private Limited previously decided it cannot be commissioned during the eleventh plan.

According to the status report submitted by Central Electricity Authority, it is awaiting environment clearance due to delay in public hearing which was scheduled for March 2011. Moreover, the project developer has not filed an application for requirement of transmission system, resulting in further delay in commissioning of the project.

The supply of 12 has engines, with capacity of 8.5 MW each, and one 8 MW steam turbine generator is expected to be imported to the site by November 2011. The contract for gensets has been awarded to Rolls Royce of Norway, which has opted for smaller size gas engine machines because of less civil works compared with bigger machines.

The 11 kV transmission line is currently under construction and meetings are being held with Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited.
