Environmental nod given to Bhusawal thermal plant's unit

An environmental has been accorded to the 660MW unit 6 of the Bhusawal thermal power plant.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests has directed the developer, Mahagenco, to ensure that the two older units  of the plant, both of 210 MW capacity, are retrofitted so that ESPs (electrostatic precipitator) for the units complies with 50 mg/Nm3 norm.

Another condition is for the developer will source additional coal requirement of 1.99 million tonnes per annum from other power plants of Mahagenco which are being shut down but only till the Machakata coal mines become operational.

Time bound implementation of the CSR scheme has to be formulated within six months time and submitted to the ministry, the MoEF further said.
